Geeking Out on 'The Golden Girls' with H. Alan Scott from 'Out on the Lanai'

 

Out on the Lanai is (arguably) the most popular Golden Girls podcast out there...and I got to show off my encyclopedic knowledge of the classic '80s sitcom with one of its co-hosts, H. Alan Scott, who's also a wonderful writer and Newsweek journalist. 

The podcast has been around for 10 years, starting out as a recap show, but it has now grown and expanded into a more comprehensive look at the Golden universe and its history. 

The subject of this special episode was Herb Edelman, the actor who played Dorothy's ex-husband, Stan, throughout all seven seasons of the Emmy-winning comedy. We reflected on his memorable episodes, his outstanding chemistry with the incomparable Bea Arthur, and the little-known appearances he made on other TV shows (Maude, Knots Landing, Murder She Wrote, etc.) and movies. 

This long-time listener and first-time caller was thrilled to be asked to join the pod. And yes, before you ask, I did rearrange my bookcase to show off just some of my Golden memorabilia for the visuals.
