On the Passing of Nicholas Brendon
The figures and icons from our youth continue to leave us. 💔
I was so grateful to meet Nicholas Brendon in 2012 on the set of my friend Ringo Le's charming rom-com, Big Gay Love, in which I played a bartender (as a featured extra). I had one brief scene with “Nicky” where I served him a drink while his chef character has a meet-cute with his love interest (played by Jonathan Lisecki).
It was the first time I got to meet someone from a TV show that had made such an impact on me (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, obvi). I did my best not to geek out when we were introduced before filming began. He kindly indulged me with a pic in between some small talk, and the shoot went as smoothly as possible for a cold damp day in December (we were at a restaurant-bar in Hollywood, off Vine). My condolences to his loved ones and all other Buffy fans who have already been mourning over the loss of Michelle Trachtenberg and the planned reboot series at Hulu. And thank you, Nicky, for making your mark on pop culture. R.I.P.
